Heres the thing

You can like, or dislike, anything you want on a purely subjective level. That’s fine. No issues with that.

I start having a problem when you start acting like your subjective dislike of something is completely dismissive and invalidating to the artistic merit it has.

You can dislike Lord of the Rings because of how long and complicated it is; it’s fine if that’s not your jam in a movie series. But that length and complication does not make it utterly devoid of anything worthwhile.

Just because it isn’t for YOU doesn’t mean it isn’t for ANYBODY, you arrogant motherfuckers.

And yes, this includes all the shit it’s trendy to hate. Yes, even that.

You are not the arbiter of what constitutes art, you are not the sole decider of the One True Interpretation, and you don’t get to decide what other people find meaning in.

And yes, this includes

all the shit it’s trendy to

hate. Yes, even that.

skeleton of cave bear in Bears Cave, Romania

wonder why it’s called that

This sent me down a massive historical rabbit hole, but, long story short: it’s called Romania because there were once Romans there.

“Okay we gotta name the home of Romulus, what should we call it?”

“Rome.”

“Who lives in Rome?”

“Romans.”

“What do we call the place full of Romans?”

“Romania.”

“Who lives in Romania?”

“R-Romanians…”

“Okay we gotta

name the home of Romulus,

what should we call it?”
